The torque gaming engine was very impressive. I saw a thing about it awhile back and i saw it being used. Very cool software. Sierra's work on their games are very impressive from FEAR, to Tribes. Tribes by the way, remains to be one of my favorite games.

Hmm........ Doom4 anyone?
