photoshop help, anyone?

some of you may have been in the msn chat with me and mike last night when i asked if anyone knew how to blend/merge images on photoshop.

all the online tutorials i've found have been of little to no help at all, and i can't seem to get the effect i'm after. i've tried making one image but i'm not happy with it at all... this is what i've got:

i'm not happy with this at all, and i'm hoping to make it look a little more blended rather than spliced together.

i was just wondering if any of you could give me a walkthrough of how to do this. i've noticed some of your sigs have the effect i'm trying to achieve so hopefully you can help me out! thanks for your time!

lol. well as i've said before online tutorials are my hero. you can usually find tons of online tuts explaining how to make decent sigs. if you can't get it by just playing around with the tools, that is.

but you learn a lot through the tuts as well, and it usually sticks with you enough so that you can do stuff without the assistance of them.

however i'm not having much luck in the way of tutorials when it comes to this. grrr.
