Networking/routing assistance?

So, had a router for a long time, but it's recently causing some serious interference issues with my gaming via online, connecting, and viewing servers through incoming and outgoing ports.

Can't view servers on counter-strike source or many steam games at all, including cs:GO , doom (sometimes) and it's just very clear its in correlation with the router.

I am Directly connected to the router via ethernet cable...
-No antivirus installed
-Windows firewall and protection systems off
-Any protection/firewalls disabled/off

Router model: NETGEAR Router 54 Mbps Wireless Router model WGR614v8 2.4GHz 802.11

It's to my understanding that there are many registered network administrators and tech's within eXg, so if I can ask of anyone's person to person assistance , that would be greatly appreciated in what steps I should take to get rid of this issue.

(Already tried portforwarding and disabling uPnP to no success, perhaps I'm missing something... - additional details)

*Good vibes to all*

Thank you in advance,

Check the server ports and make sure you are port forwarding them. Or add your ip to the DMZ but know that means all your pc ports are available to the outside, if that doesn't work plug the modem directly to you pc and see if that works. Also try turning off your windows firewall and any antiviruz.

Oh and hi guys!

Only thing I must do is connect my pc directly to the modem! :P But I figured out how to lower my routers security settings a bit, so it seems to be working somewhat better so far... Still can't run dedicated servers, even if the port is forwarded though however..

Most games require MORE than one port to be forwarded, AND some require different types to be forwarded.
