Do you know what your politicians are doing ??

Post by eXg. Pun1sher »

Guys this has NOTHING to do with gaming, but our US Government, Politicians. I feel we are rapidly LOOSING our rights.

Don't read any more, if you don't want to know.

Just my opinion people, but as far as I can tell, things are getting VERY scary out there. I am NOT a supporter of Obama, so we can get that out of the way now, but that is not the point. What is bothering me, is that our own government tried to RAM through this health care bill. In excess of 1,000 pages, many politicians when asked if they would read it, they replied No, how could they. Wait, you don't know what's in it, but you're going to vote for it, and you want US to do the same ??

Fast forward. IMO, the reason why this was done (rushing it through), was they did NOT want anyone to really know what was in it. I mean come on, if you have some rock solid plan, really going to work out like you say, fix what you say, help those who you say it will help, why would you NOT want anyone to read and understand it ?? Hmmmmm.

As you will clearly see (decide for YOURself) with the videos below, there is and are some VERY serious issues brewing, and honestly, taxpayers have HAD ENOUGH. In record numbers, in town hall meetings, politician speech's and other gatherings, wherein people are TOLD this is the right thing to do, and to do it NOW, people are furious with those who are telling them this.

Now, let's be fair for a bit, ok ??? You guys all remember the MANY protests, outrage, news coverage, etc, when people opposed Bush, right ?? How did Bush respond ?? He said it is a GREAT county, where you, or anyone could say what they wanted, protest, even the president. You remember how it was PATRIOTIC to dissent, to question, to disagree ??
Apparently this is NO LONGER the way it is. ANYONE, and I mean anyone, who stands up and says NO, or disagrees is called, Fake, Racist, Right Wing Extremist, Crazy, and much, much more.

What is going on in our country ?? As soon as you express your opinion (if it disagrees) you are immediately labled a nut job. When did this happen ?

As a segway into the vids, ask yourself, your friends, neighbors, even parents, Who broke Medicaide, Medicare, Social Security ?? I'll give you ONE guess. OK, so now we are supposed to give them one MORE thing to break ??

People outraged in Philadelphia of all places).

AARP meeting where our elderly citizens (nutjobs ? crazy ? manufactured anger ?) are upset that AARP whom they pay money to, is supporting the health care plan. Shortly after tiring of hearing PEOPLE who do not want this, the AARP spokeperson ends the meeting, and takes her mic. Guess what, THEY work for us, and the people continue without her.

I will post much more later. The best thing is, you CAN disagree here, without being put down, called crazy, nutjob, or worse. Post up either way, as these are FREE boards.

pun is a crazy nutjob extremist. Clearly!!!!!! no one should listen to him.

Seriously though... this is crazy, part of the reason I hate American government. Our system is so messed up. Laws restricting you from doing everything. Its almost as if they just come up with rules for the sake of making new ways to control us and get us to do what THEY want. We need someone to come in and create a team dedicated to fixing all of the problems within our government. We don't need it right away either. Take action right away. Get gears moving, but don't TELL US what we need.

America has been focused on the wrong things for too long. the Government needs to take their big heads out of making money and spreading influence. GET BACK HOME. Rid us of oil, fix our economy, fix health care, get people jobs.

If things continue to get worse, and they will if nothings done. somethings gonna give.

Where do you get your news from pun? You should start a news website. Way more informative then the BS on the real news sites.
Also you think we could get a forum on current issues like this? You could poor all your past threads in there. Also might get people at least here thinking.

Nice Video Sab, that is what I have been telling all my friends. Also if you don't know about it DO NOT GO TO CARS.GOV. If you go and accept the privacy statement, that gives the government right to access your computer, and copy files and do what they do.

Lets all give a hand to Barack Obama, Der Fuhrer.

As a non-American, in recent years I've felt quite concerned and generally pretty bad for the American people. I don't know all the details behind the new health care plans, but felt that I should comment generally on the state of affairs and how things have been progressively changing in your country over the last 10 years.

I think for the most part, and mainly due to the Bush (x2) admin., the world has a far far lesser opinion of your country than they back when even Clinton was president. I think it's a combination of how your government has treated the rest of the world (either not very well or with only self-interest in mind), but also, and probably more concerning than the former for US residents, by the way that your government has either denied new rights or taken away existing freedoms from the general populace.

Watching the 'gay marriage' debate slowly changing in the US is somewhat hopeful in terms of seeing the separation of church and state (even though the institution of marriage was created by the church in the first place). But seeing a huge number of things the done to your country in recent years was extremely concerning and I can't believe people are standing for it.

I think talking about it on a forum is an ok way to create a fairly small and inconsequential discussion. One thing that (mainly) 2nd world countries have that the US (and Canada) don't have is a large population of people actually willing to create change in their own domains. Your country does not belong to your government. Your country belongs to the people that live there. I'm wholly surprised at how much, essentially whining, has gone on in the United States over some seriously major issues, with very little, if any, action being done by the people.

So... on Obama. I was fairly blown away at how many people thought he'd be the, "saviour of the Western world," however offensive to non-Americans that may be. Yes, good for him, he's black. And yes, being voted in as the first black president is an unarguably monumental achievement given the historical, and potentially present, treatment of black people both in the US and internationally. For me though, he was just another guy running for president. I don't care about his heritage or his skin colour. I want to see his work in action and then I'll decide. I will say though, it's enormously frustrating to see the American public completely divided and steadfast as either Republican or Democratic. Your two parties are essentially the same bar a few issues.

As a result of all the publicity he has generated globally, the world is holding Obama under an equally monumentally scrutinous eye. That said, I do think Obama's intention behind his health care proposal is a noble one. I don't know how that has manifested itself in the documentation, but I will say that I strongly believe your health care system needs an incredibly significant overhaul. It's exorbitantly expensive to receive major and even minor medical treatment without a good insurance plan in the US. As a result, a large portion of your population suffers the consequences of poor health. Lower life expectancy, lower quality of care, disparate availability of care. Your health care system is, essentially, an assembly line system where your people pay more than any other group of people in the world for sub-standard care. Are you not concerned about this? Is a little bit more money in your pocket really that much more important to you than an adequate health care system? I think it's important to realize that the US is the only wealthy, industrialized nation on the planet that does not ensure all of its citizens have medical coverage. Secondly, the US was also found to have the worst medical coverage of any of the 19 Westernized countries in the world that were used for comparison in the study. For a country priding itself on everything in the free world, those are alarming statistics.

If you're buying into all of this horrendous bullshit they're pumping out in the form of smear campaigns and propaganda ads stating, "socialized health care will kill us all", then I think you need to use your brain a little bit more. The fear-mongering that is produced down there is abysmal and people seem just fine to believe it when it's just another form of advertising from a group of individuals with a lot of money and a very personalized agenda.

I do sincerely hope there is positive change for your country. I think you need it. But I think you need to make that change happens. Sitting behind computer monitors and 'talking' about it does nothing.

Self,

The Health Care bill is about 1000 pages long and I have read and re-read the whole thing. On Page 58 of the bill it states that the government will have access to your finical records and other personal information. The White House released a press statement that said they want to know who is spreading these rumors and such, which is actually very illegal, that goes against free speech as a matter of fact.

I do want to promote change but the change that is coming now is not wanted to a lot of people. Tomorrow morning I will be waking up and going to a rally to sign a petition against the Health Care. America is number 1 in medicine and advancement to modern medicine. The reason is is because there if profit behind it and if we have government run health care that profit will be gone and those doctors will go to other countries that they can practice that medicine.

For the people who are not up Obama's a$$ see how bad these ideas and bills are for the country. The economy got bad after the whole Fannie May and Freddie Mack thing started and was passed by non other than the now supporters of Obama.

Obama is taking away our right given to us by the founding fathers of this Country.

I am an American and a patriot of this Country, I love my country and will stand and fight for it, or against it to save it from itself if needed. I will go to jail for my beliefs and my virtues. If this stuff gets passed we might as well change from the USA to the USSA. People really need to read these bills and not listen to one party or another telling you what they want you to hear. I stay away from major media and find things for myself.

I think a large part of the problem is, people want other people to do everything for them. That is the American idea. We elect others to do what we want, and thus people have come to expect this.
Think of it like this.
Most family's in the US can't even afford to leave the state they reside in. Its crazy. People are working all the time or worried about education, baseball or church camp. People are focusing too much on their lives because they believe they are "free to do as they please", and nothing will change. Now lets say that kid in baseball breaks his arm or a kid gets hurt at school, now your going to the hospital and all you are doing is worrying about how much its going to cost. Americans or maybe even people in general don;t worry about bigger issues until its hitting them in the face.

This of course doesn't encompass every single person, just a large amount of the public.

Congress was given a 1000 page healthcare document, given 5 days to read it, and 70% say in a congressional meeting that they have not read it and still are going to vote yes. WTF. We need term limits, we need to remove those 80 year olds that lived during the "first depression".
