Input on new system

Post by dorkiz »

So... I'm going to start building a system while I'm over here, and need some input on the items that I picked. It's a high end, but not top of the line machine, so I just want to know what you guys think of it.

$1,300 I'm guessing.. Hmm.. Not bad.. I haven't done a lot of research in a while on rigs as I haven't had the money to fork out to build a new one as of yet. But That looks pretty good.. I think it will definitely hold you over for a while.. Now I am willing to bet that you get Gov. issue OS's so you aren't paying for that.. altho windows 7 ultimate looks kinda cool. ;)

Also there is your case...... Now what exactly are you looking for here. Also one last thing Cooling.. Stock fans.. in that case.. which case are you getting. hehe.. and or are you going liquid.

P.s. I'm getting discouraged with quake live.. and need help.

Nah, no gov issued OS here... Haha. I do have XP Pro that I bought myself around here somewhere... Although I might steal a copy of Win 7 depending on how well it's supported for everything.

And the case I haven't decided on yet. Something plain and large, so probably an Antec. I like the clean, black look.

And cooling... I want to try liquid for once. T3k was showing me this closed circuit liquid cooling thing. It looks pretty cool, but I still need to shop around.

And no getting discouraged. :P

I have been running win 7 for a while now and have had no problems. I personally think its better than xp. Best microsoft OS thus far.

Don't forget you'll need to run the 64-bit version to use that 6GB!

FWIW I've been running Vista 64 for a couple of years now (8GB) with no real software problems.

I just really haven't been able to like Vista... I haven't used it on my own system yet, but even having to TS it for other people around here it drives me f*****g nuts. They took out sooo many user friendly ways to TS simple problems... Maybe it's just because I'm unfamiliar with it though, who knows.

And I didn't think they'd make a 32 bit version for Win 7? Seems a little pointless with the way hardware is coming these days... Heh.

Oh, and Frag, record some demos that you know are of you playing (a lot of the last ones weren't haha) and send me a few. I'll go over them with you.

That's silly... But I guess if people still have 32 bit systems that can run it fine....

260 FTW Dorkiz. I'm like you, never really liked Vista, ALTHOUGH I have to admit, on my VERY underperforming HP laptop, it is MUCH snazzier since the last update. 7 wins hands down for speed, and lack of hassles, even though I'm still hunting around a bit in it.
