Need some help.

Post by eXg.Ground Zero »

suppp,

small problem with my computer. Im starting to think that the mainboard it is not mounted properly on the case. But, everytime I bump or even move my computer in the slightist it has a huge freeze. Eg, I cannot open task manager move my mouse or anything else. I restart it and it works fine once more. Any idea?

Hard drive skips maybe? Is your hard drive secured in the bay, and are all the wires cables snug?

Also check that you dont have a short. I had a problem with a sound card once where it was shorting the motherboard every time i plugged in a headphone.

IMO: Stop moving the pc.. =]

and on a more helpful note.. unplug everything from the mobo, replug it in, and do the same with the HD's =] make sure everything is seated correctly.

A picture doesn't help much lol... Anyway try swapping the hard drive bay, ie move the hard drive to a different spot and then replug it all in tight.

What the hell does the IDE go too? I see your sata drive down below but if your using that IDE attached to a harddrive then your problem is the fact that you dont have it secured in a bay. Your HD is skipping. Stop humping the freaking laser beam!

no its problably not the issue but i am a firm believer that if its not plugged in its not inside. More stuff in the case less air circulation. But seeing how its not being used, it could be anything from the hard drive skipping to a loose heat sink to needing some thermal paste. watch your temps also, you could be simply overheating.

if it were my home pc that i dont care about i would just kick it see if it locks up. if it does reboot make sure you mount the HD and kick it again. If it doesnt do it. then its probably not your HD. :D

on a side note of puns, he lives in an electromagnetic forcefield in which no HD will survive. Or i just think he has stock in Seagate.
