Need help on picking a good Mobo

I have been slowing gather parts for my computer, but when i went to look at the mother board a friend picked out for me i realized that it was A) labeled defective by almost every one that owns it, i also noticed it was for ddr3 ram and i already have 4 gigs of ddr2 ram.

Im not so great with hardware so i was hoping for a little help from out there. so far i have,

Cpu

stick to DDR2

DDR3 is crap lagecy times are bad

if u can find a 8800GT it be your best bet. if not i'd try and get that 9800GT off ebay. u can prolly get those same parts from ebay. check there first.

my budget is about 100-140 dollars

The 8800GT looks nice and is in my price range thats looking like my winner at the moment, i found it on newegg for 120. thank you for the help.
