Help with new system build

Post by drew »

Current specs

CPU Name Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
Motherboard Model SiS-651
Vid card Radeon X1650 Series 512 (AGP)
SMBIOS Version 6.00 PG
ram: 2gb DDR2

I think the reality is I need a new motherboard + processor to start with. I think with performance test 7 a benchmark score of 332 is what it gives.

The problem is if I get a new motherboard I dont think it will have an AGP slot for the vid card.

I kind of know what im doing but im not that sure on what to purchase. Its also possible ill have a new motherboard from a friend, Ill update with the specs soon.

Some help would be appreciated although I think its best to wait to se what this new motherboard is first.

If your still using an AGP video card, it is time to upgrade to whole new rig. What is your price range for upgrading? There are lots of guys here to point you in the right direction.

This is the motherboard that I have been given,
MEDIONPC MS-7502
If this is going to be ok for me then first off ill ned the processor.I think my budget for that and the vid card would be about £50 each

Yea i agree

To upgrade your pc, ya gota have some money not just a little bit here and there.. your goin to need to get a few hundred pounds saved and then try to get a new rig. but thats just my opinion.

You should be able to look up your motherboard by its manufactuer. Then they will have a list of procs that will work with your board. At least thats how every other company does it. In the mean time.. What kinda computer case do you have.. Is it custom.. ???? If not,, you can get your gear together, but if you wanna be uber 1337.. that gets customized to your liking too. :)

The motherboard is a MEDIONPC MS-7502 but im having some trouble finding out the compatible processor information. I know it was bought with a quad core but I only have the board.

Its just a standard case right now, Ill get the insides sorted first.
