5k Run

Post by dorkiz »

Alright... So for the month of September this is where I stand:

01SEP08 - Labor Day 5k run: 2nd overall - 19:08

03SEP08 - Regular Wednesday 5k (non-competitive): 2nd overall - 19:24

11SEP08 - Patriots Day (9/11) 5k run: 3rd overall - 19:06

17SEP08 - Regular Wednesday 5k (non-competitive): 19:04

18SEP08 - Air Force B-Day 5k run: 4th overall, 1st in 29 & Under group - 18:34 (New personal record)

24SEP08 - Regular Wednesday 5k (non-competitve): 18:58

Now... Things to look forward to: I have the Army 10 miler on Oct 5th. I think I'll still have a chance at placing decent even though I've never run that far for a competitive time, but I doubt many people are gonna run it and "shock the world" that aren't doing good in the 5ks. So it'll be fun. :) Other than that I don't think there are any other specialty 5k runs other than a Halloween run at night (that will be interesting and suck since it's not morning).

I just got my new Garmin Forerunner 301 to help me keep track of my pace, so we'll see how much conditioning I can do from here. :) When they put pictures up of the events I'll post them here.

Yea, I think it'll be fun. :) I'll let you know how it goes. I only know that some of it is going to suck because like 70% of it is running on dirt/sand... :(

Wow that might make it harder depending on if its hard or soft sand. Just dont injure yourself :D

Most of it is hard sand with rocks all spread through it (it sucks), and then I heard from one of my running buddies that there is a sand patch that goes pretty deep that runs for about 50-75 meters on the back stretch... I won't injure myself though, I'll just get all pissy at the sand. :P

Nice dorkiz!!!

I'm training for triathlons for next summer right now. I'm way out of shape, so I have some catching up to do in my 5k's. I'm about 19:15-40 seconds right now.

My personal best in 5k to date is 18:03 about 2 years ago. We can motivate each other :D. I want that 18 minute barrier!

I think you can do it. Especially if you used to run before. ;)

My next goal is to run under a 12 min 2 mile run. I think I can do it since I'm only about 20 seconds off last time I ran one, and it was at night at the end of the day. I have a record APFT coming up on the 26th, so I have until then. :)

I rean one recently,, granted I was following a really hot girl. and ran one in 20:03.

But then again I play soccer. Don't run straight. hehe. I was training for a half marathon. getting back into that. Just hard on your body after a while.

Tell me about it... I ran a slow 5k yesterday for the fun run and came in at 19:34... Still felt sore as hell though. I feel pretty good today though.

13OCT08 - Navy Birthday 5k. 2nd place overall with a new personal record of 18:20.

Go me! Our 4 man half marathon relay race is only 6 days away. Eep!

Oh, and it was humid/foggy as f**k this morning! I could only see about 10 feet in front of me, and worse than that, my glasses would fog up after running for about half a kilometer! Had to keep taking them off and wiping them real quick so I could see. :s
