Anyone else listen to music to "pump" them up while they play?

Its odd, for some reason, if i have my music much louder than game, i play much better.

Yes, I noticed that too. One day I was just listening to Sonic Clang's cdoom soundtrack and started up E1M9. I started quake 4, and just put e1m9 on repeat forever, and started playing.

Idk what happened but I was in like a 'zone.' My kdr was insanely impressive, and my ctf score was outstanding too. This happens every time I turn on music in the background, but I just find myself wanting to listen to the game instead. *Shrugs*

In some games, but sound is important to playing well in something such as CSS or doom. If it's a pub or whatever it doesn't matter though.

no music for 1v1, but ffa pub I'll listen to mostly something very soothing. It has the effect of seeming to slow down time, which is like putting me to the advantage of both smooth movement, and better prediction. It's like I'm dancing with all the noobs, and I'm leading the dance.

sigur ros works excellently for this effect.

I listen to The First Circle or Shostakovich in public server... depends on how I feel. FC is relaxing, Shostakovich is driving.

Listen on pub! when playing matches for fun also. But if someone wants a serious match

ill put my music off

but it does help on pubs:D keeps me in my mojo

I watch old q3 vids to get pumped before playing. Get Quaked 3 is a damn good vid for doing so. For some reason if I watch vids like that b4 playing then I'm just in hyper mode and play much faster and much more accurate with alot of air juggling. But it doesnt always work. Some days I feel slow and sluggish no matter what I do. For just pub DM, listening to music is just fun cuz you kill to a soundtrack kinda like in Lethal Weapon 4 at the beginning with the pyro listening to crazy rock music while torching everything.

killaton's Vitality video is great for Q4. It's the best q4 vid yet in my opinion. Also, to get really REALLY pumped I'll watch "CPMA done by vo0".
