Building a computer
Building a computer
I just bought a A8N32-SLI Deluxe and the FX-60 Dual Core, What I was wanting to know is what would be the best OS to install on it, or should I put the new vista on it. And I have two BFG 7900 or should I change those to the 8800. Can anyone help me with this, I would like to do this right the first time. I would really like some help on this, cause I want to improve my gaming. Thanks Bobby

If you dont have XP allready, buy Vista. Id also wait on teh dx10 cards. in 6 months the uber cheap ones be out. A friend of mine has a GTS and its not really worth it. ur SLI 79 would probably be better for the next 6-8 months.wild card wrote:I just bought a A8N32-SLI Deluxe and the FX-60 Dual Core, What I was wanting to know is what would be the best OS to install on it, or should I put the new vista on it. Hmmm, I have an almost identical setup. Got XP, SLI, and am over 10K in 3DMark06. No complaints. The DirectX10 thing and Vista is going to be rather ho hum untill things start to ramp up, reatl tittles, support, drivers, etc, so, if you ARE going to put your eggs in that basket, you may be ready, but you may also be waiting.

1. Vista is not out yet.
2. If you buy Windows xp now, microsoft is giving you Vista for free (just need to pay shipping) with a certificate you should get when you buy xp.
3. I would not go to vista yet.
I will be staying with xp for at least another year im thinking. Maybee Ill await sp1 or somthing along those lines.
One thing that would actually make me more persistant on upgrading would have been the new file system, but seeing as that is not comming out yet. I really dont feel a big pull for me upgrading to vista for a while. Ill weigh out the pro's and con's when the time comes....

Thanks guys for your info. I have the Vista already in the dvd 32 bit and 64 bit dvd I have it on 1 computer already, and it is cool. I have put some games on it, didnt know if it would let me but it took a min. to figure it out and it did install but I havent tried any of my more advanced games yet. The vista is so much more advanced, when I installed this game it did some things differant than when i installed it on XP, on XP i had to have the disc in for this game to talk, and on vista you dont. So im going to try to put Doom 3 on it today and see what it does. thanks guys for all your help. I just want to put this new puter together right the first time to improve my gaming. and maybe I will be able to compete against you guys with practice and all. Thanks again and Happy Gaming. Bobby
