Beware of what you post

Take a look at this, and listen carefully http://www.yahoo.com/s/836839
I've always wondered when they would start cracking down on it and it's about time.
People over the last few years laughed about it and said it couldn't be done.... 2 yrs is a long time to do time...LOL

Hey Pun, when you delete threads, does it stay on the main server of who's running the site?

:)

Jen, this very similar to the situation we had discussed regarding another forum. I still have one more interview to give in regards to that, but I'll keep you posted.

In regards to your question, it depends on the free vs. paid nature of the setup, and the admin. Generally speaking free forums, keep a mirror of all activity, just for reasons of liabillity, and well, hehe, prosecution. Even if the "admin" purges accounts, posts, etc. it is only removed from one databse. The main host still retains their image. Too bad more "admins" don't realize that.

On a paid site like ours, I have complete control over the software installed, and the databases. No crippled, or mirrored setups running on eXg. I do however, maintain FULL database backups, IP and activity logs, proxy hits, direct hits, and a multitude of other automated monitors, hehe, just in case. Obviously I could turn over the database information if it were ever required, say to prove certain posting behaviors, posters, IP's, even back track through proxies.

NP, I shall PM you with some less than widely known facts/factors about free hosting.

Good post, I've always been an advocate for keeping it clean. Never know. :)
