Ya man if you Don't have a "real" job yet it seems like a good opportunity for some awesome work experience....if i had the chance i would go for the concept art for sure....I wonder if Crush knows about this....but the list for employment is very interesting for a young gamer looking for work in the industry

first off the Doom 3 engine was used to make and create Quake 4... so that would be fine... I have seen them do a complete different game with one engine... From what I am thinking in my head... it would make sense for them to really utilize their new Artic 5 or I forget what it is called. as they used the Doom3 engine as a platform to really see what they could do different and add in the newer engine...
I'M hopeing that they use the newer one... here are a few reasons why...
They are talking about multiple bumpmaps compiled on top of each other over and over... and when saved they save as just 1 ... so for space and lag reasons... basically you get the picture you want that has no impact of playability,, or lagg. for this reason... you mappers... OMFG could make custom eXG> maps with logos and wahtever you could think up... and it wouldn't impact the actual gameplay on the map... I think just that fact alone is rediculus... I"M not sure yet as for lighting... I know that those elements wind up being a PITA when it came to doom 3 maps... we shall see. I will have to go back and listen to what they are planning on being able to do with the engine... then we can start actually putting together some really good layouts for multiplayer maps... what you guys think... ?

id's current engine is idTech4 (what used to be called the Doom 3 engine). It has been used for Doom 3/RoE, Quake 4, Prey, ET:QW and RTCW2.
Their "next gen" engine is idTech5. The first announced game for this is Rage.
Given that idTech5 has built-in cross-platform support and that their current job ads specify PC, XBOX 360 and PS3 then I guess thats what they'll use. Would be mad to take on a bunch of new staff and train them in your "old" tech.
Although Carmack has mentioned some of his ideas for idTech6 in interviews

... shown for the very first time running in real time on a Mac, id Tech 5 additionally supports the Xbox 360 and Playstation3 console platforms as well as the PC...
