Why are geeks often atheist?

A quick article I found interesting and just wanted to share. Religion almost always brings up one hell of a debate. :D
‘Geek’ brings to mind a long list of traits- Glasses, obsession with science, a high IQ. Recently, however, a new trait has come to light to add to the long, esteemed list: Atheism. Despite being widely known, there has been very little in the way of explanation proposed for this phenomena. It is the purpose of this article to address this deficiency.

I suppose I'm a geek. I'm 100% sure Albert Einstein wasn't atheist. Question everything, never stop questioning, once you stop questioning your mind closes up. I don't believe in religion, but I'm very spiritual and believe in afterlife. Being exposed to certain things and experiences can change your beliefs in a second. People lack faith these days

Im Catholic, and so are all of my relatives, but what seems to happen is that once they go to college, or once a 'geek' becomes addicted to science or computers, sometimes they turn to scientology and then completely stop having a religion, or just dont have time for the duties their religions consist of if theyre playing computer, IE- church. An example is my cousin, who was the biggggest catholic around in our family and also the biggest geek. He moved to germany to study stars and telescopes, and almost instantly forgot about his religious duties so he would have more time.

Hmm... I don't practice organized religion but I sure do believe in God. I guess I'm me then.

I just see to much synchonicity and beauty in the world to think it was just placed here. Has anyone ever read up on the Golden Ratio or Phi?

Yah, but I don't remember too much about it.

BLEH @ religion.

religion is all about what you can do.

Christianity is about what God has done.

I prefer to say I have a faith, rather than a religion.

It's better to have ideas than beliefs.

It's easier to change an idea than a belief.
