UAE Company to Operate 6 US Ports
Looks like Bush is at it again. He has decided to outsource control of 6 of our largest ports to Dubai Ports World, a government run company and the 6th largest port operator in the world. These ports which include New York, New Jersey, Philidelphia, Baltimore, New Orleans and Miami are currently ran by a London based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., the fourth largest port operator in the world. The sale price? 6.8 billion dollars.
Some facts to keep in mind: 1) the UAE was one of three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan; 2) the UAE has been a key transfer point for illegal shipments of nuclear components to Iran, North Korea and Lybia; 3) according to the FBI, money was transferred to the 9/11 hijackers through the UAE banking system; 4) after 9/11, the Treasury Department reported that the UAE was not cooperating in efforts to track down Osama Bin Laden’s bank accounts.
Some members of congress are currently asking the treasury department to suspend approval of the sale until there can be a further investigation into this. You can read their letter here: http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/Dub ... letter.pdf
I think I'm going to stop reading the news and start watching American Idol... this s**t's getting too crazy...
Anways, I know a few of you Marines have probally been out to the UAE, so I was wondering your opinions on this...

Hmmm... Well if UAE did anything silly, there are always Carriers offshore with Tomahawks and F16/Harriers not to mention bored Marine and Sailors waiting to do SOMETHING.
Then we have our boots that are on the ground in UAE... they would have to be BALLSY to even think about doing anything stupid...
But to answer your post, NO. I do not believe that GWB should even consider selling our ports to countries affiliated with terrorism. And my parting words.... (taken from pravda.ru)

No offence at all Sukki, cause you're a cool cat, but I think it's this kind of "Fuk It" attitude from the masses that allows these things to happen. To tell you the truth, I used to think the same... but now... now MaryJayne! is pissed. I switched to a "Fuk You" attitude. Fuk those who want to jeapordize my freedom & those who want to jeapordize my security, and Bush is no exception to the rule.eXg.sukki wrote:tbh i rly dont give a s**t freedom isn't freedom like it was when were lil kids gorwing up having great times doing anything we wanna do to in life now u cant do s**t b/c gov is to busy thorwing there money around and not giving a f**k about human lifewhat could be next.....going to old times when muther king jr was shot for giving ''freedom speech'' f**k this wack...nothing will never change with money making act like there gods...
I can only hope, that more & more, things like this will piss of people that are ready to make a change. Some things are bigger then us and more important then our personal agendas. I don't know exactly how to stand but I am ready and willing to do so. If all I can do is help bring these things to light then I will. I just hope that someday WE can find the answer to change, because I love America & I don't want to move.

I must admit... Seyshelles is very tempting...

The most interesting thing about this concept from what I've learned from working with the Military and Government is this. There are a lot of moving parts and things going on behind the scenes that we do not know about, nor need to know about due to operational security. I'm one that doesn't agree with what is going on, but that's not to say that it may not be the right decision. I mean, what would have happened IF Kerry did win. Don't you think the terrorist would have capitalized on the matter? I honestly do. The world is changing, poor countries are now starting to industrialize due to the drops in price for technology and everyone now wants a piece of the pie. Problem is, we Europe/US have had the pie, and the table, s**t we've even had the house and now others want in on it. Then you add a Martyr happy nation that believes you get REWARDED for killing infidels (Europe/US/Anything Non Muslim for that matter) and you have a recipe for disaster. My personal take on this, I'm going to wait it out, because nearly half of America/World is going to be wrong on this one. And whether you are a Democrat or a Republican you will see. I am neither of the afformentioned. I am an AMERICAN.

Very interesting post. I will admit being not completely informed on this, but I will research a little more (which is the sign of a good post), and then make a decision. I am, hehe, as you all know, very pro Busch, BUT, by no means am I blind, or too lazy to research and make my own decisions. Let me post back.

Bob and Mary, if you guys move out to SeyShelles... bring me along haha. Humans lack knowledge and Truth from the beginning, it is your duty to seek it out instead of remaining Ignorant and Arrogant. Open your mind, find all causes and sources which lead to those actions. Never, NEVER assume you know. If you're able to do that... It should lead you to truth
Truth is everything..... what is truth? you tell me ;]
Reflect that on everything said and everything going on.

New Information:
The company, Dubai Ports World, would also control the movement of military equipment on behalf of the U.S. Army through two other ports. According to the British paper Lloyd's List, "[P&O] has just renewed a contract with the United States Surface Deployment and Distribution Command to provide stevedoring [loading and unloading] of military equipment at the Texan ports of Beaumont and Corpus Christi through 2010." According to the journal Army Logistician, “Almost 40 percent of the Army cargo deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom flows through these two ports.”
PS Thanks Ruiner for that link... I'm going to take some time to look over it and get back to you, MUCH APPRECIATED THOUGH!

MJ, thanks again for bringing this up as I actually heard it HERE, before the main stream news media. GO FIGURE. I've done quite a bit of research on this, and I have to say, the MORE I learn, the LESS I like this. Some of our younger members may not fully understand the ramifications of this, and hell, I probably couldn't be bothered with it, back in the day, had more important stuff to worry about, (WHO is buying the NEXT case of beer [laugh]). I am fully convinced why Bush DIDN'T say anything about it, but I will put that up later, as I am a STRONG Bush supporter. With that said, and in the open, I firmly agree, that THIS particular idea is a VERY dangerous one, and would SERIUOSLY impact our Nation's Safety, National Security, and would leave us WIDE OPEN for a multitude of attacks. IMO.
