Knowing was a good movie,

No offense Jago but the 2012 stuff is bull crap. yes the Mayan calendar ends but guess what it has gone through the cycle I think like 3 times. The first time was when the Spanish wiped out the Aztecs. The world is not going to end.

In all honesty and this will probably piss some people off is if anything does happen. IF and I mean a big if. Than Obama will get re-elected and than the American people has a whole will be in so much trouble because no president has spent this much money in the first 6 months of office. We are still loosing money as a country. The GDP is way down and we can't afford all these new programs. That is what will happen in 2012. We will be the new Eastern Europe.

the biggest threat will be to powerstations which could be knocked out.
They plan to shut them down before they can be affected .

2012 nothing will happen the world will not die. It's been said a new era will start by the mayan calendar. There's nothing said about the world dying. Maybe the world we know.

well in 2012 the mayan calendar does end, and in their time and belief system, their world might end, uh oh wait, it has.

Now the true significance of 2012 is the day of December 19th if i remember correctly. That is when the earth will align with Venus, Mars, Mercury, and maybe Saturn (cant remember) but they all align with the sun and the earth will shift from above to below the Sun (whatever we are now, the opposite). Now people are scared that on that day when all this happens, the earth's poles will not be able to handle the shift and some scientist believe that the Earth's Crust will break away from the Earth's Mantle (think of a ball within a ball). All because the poles could shift.

Now I dont believe any of this for one reason and one reason only, this happens every 33,000 years (this above scenerio) right, well, the earth is still here. No polar shifts no nothing. Now could their be some big storms caused by this yes. Slight changes in climates yes, but I think this is the universe at work. People say global warming this, global warming that, well look, the earths axis has shifted towards the sun 17 degrees and that is what has caused the higher temps, methane levels, melting caps, etc. Now if the north pole has shifted towards the sun and the earth rises above the central point of the sun on Dec 19th 2012 then dont you think that all of this would kind of just even out the entire situation.

But this is just my .02

old thread but to bump this with what I've learned from reading

The date above is supposed to mark the end of the age of Pisces. We're entering the age of Aquarius, ages change according to every 2,000 something years. The heating up of the planets in our solar system among others is from a galactic wave cycle that occurs from 26 million years to 62m years, two cycles in itself. The planets are heating up from inside not the sun though 1/3 of the warming of earth is from the sun through the depletion of our ozone. The sun is actually being pushed in by a force which is that wave mentioned above by our own galaxy, it's the process of evolution in itself. When I say evolution I'm saying DNA is supposed to evolve along with our conscious awareness to a higher state. As the polar ice caps melt that water will create impressions on the sea floor which will cause earth quakes, tsunami's, volcanic activity.... It's definitely not the end of the world.

But don't believe what I say, research for yourself and come to conclusions of what seems right to you.

yeah I'd have to say it would be bull crap. I think someone pulled this out of the movie knowing cause it happens just like this

All the info camel and the other gave is true. They say in 30.000 - 50.000 years the earth will die, thats enough time for me to live

I just saw a very lengthy special on it, and they went into great detail, much more than just the Mayan Calender. It was rather sobering.
