im not gettng it. If i ever get a flu shot i always get the flu. Plus they had no time to test that h1n1 shot. Who knows what the side effects are going to be. Just stay conscience of your body and what it is doing, just incase that shot shoots back.

I do have some friends who are going to be getting it, but as a rule I never get ANY shots I don't need. Flu, H1N1, bahh. I have enough caffeine, and nicotine, to kill almost anything, ......... I hope. :)

It's mandatory for people in active duty military to get it, so I got it a while ago. I recommend getting it. And Camel, half of that you getting the shot is in your head or you got the flu before the shot. ;)

All flu vaccines are a dead virus, and thus are not capable of actually giving you the flu. However, there are a billion strains of the flu, and the medical section that researches those shots just gives a vaccine for the most common strain that they are finding for that year, so you could also be getting another strain, although it is unlikely.

And J Unit, don't be a wimp, it doesn't hurt. ;)

yahhy they are really pushing it on military personnel. I noticed that within my family. I plan on getting it when its available on my campus, if it never is then well I don't plan on going out of my way to get it. If i was ment to get the shot ill get it :D

I still don't get flu shots. I'm sure once I begin working in healthcare, it will be mandatory... but until then. I don't think any longitudinal studies have been presented that outline the effects of the flu shot. Also, the mercury preservative used in the vaccine is potentially fairly hazardous. With all the hype on the H1N1 strain, very little testing has been done on the antigens/antibodies used with the vaccine. It's all too knee-jerk for me this year. Plus, both the morbidity and mortality from this "super flu" is lower than the typical seasonal flu. Get the shot if you want it, but don't get it because of all this scary media hype (what else is new!).

Correlational evidence has also been presented that individuals getting flu shots yearly have a higher risk for the onset of early Alzheimer's.

Got mine on Saturday as I'm in high-risk category (asthma) and the fact that there are several people in my area/around my campus that have contracted it.... Got a really high fever that night, woke up the next morning and was fine. Arm aches only a tad more than a flu shot though.
