m1nds gone "pci-e" :D

Post by m1nd »

5 Days ago I sold my old agp system for a higher price of the value of a store. With that money. It didnt upgrade much but gave me a lot of upgrade opportunities ;).

This is what I had:

-Asrock p4vm800 s478
-Twinmos DDR400 512 mb
Apacer DDR400 512 mb
- Intel Pentium 4 Hyper Threading 3.0ghz
-NVidia Geforce 6200 64 bit int. 256 mb

This is what I have now:

-K9AG Neo2-Digital Socket AM2--- chipset: AMD 690G 2000 mt/s
-OCZ 1 GB DDR2-800 Kit (XTC Gold GX ( can always buy another 2x512 or 4x 1 gig ram motherboard goes up to 8 gigs ram)
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 1 mb cache (EE version)
- ATI XPRESS 1250 shared vga memory.

It's a lot of better but of course I'm getting a pci-e card in a month or so.

Now my question is

Could anyone with some experience of pci-e cards tell me whats a good card. Low. Mid and High range and why ATI or why NVidia?

no there not 8400 and 8600GTS are more for photoshop not gaming the 8800GTS 320mb/640mb and 8800GTX are ment for gaming. i would not buy an 8600GTS and beside your not going to see nothing from dx10 until another year once Windows vista services package 2 is out. Trust me 7950GT is well worth it :)

Looking at those specs, I wonder how hot that Ultra runs.
