DX10 IS Vista only, and windows 7 (comes out some time 2009-2010)

The reason is, They completely rebuilt direct x. Its not an update.

Yes, I realize that. I was asking if I could just get VISTA now, and update to VISTA SP2 with an update later.

Vista update SP2 won't be out until feburay so no you can't update vista. Only updates for vista are sercuirty updates =/

Vista isn't THAT BAD. I've had it for 4 months, and sure i have been mad at it, and i would get better fps in XP, but once you hack up some things and tweak it a bit it gets usable :P
Service pack 1 should be out any day now anyway. They are downloadable btw.

here we go

As a fitting start to this blog, I'm proud to release a preview of our Alky compatibility libraries for Microsoft DirectX 10 enabled games. These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Windows Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn't capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games.

:P

Thanks Ilu, I KNEW this was coming. No one wants to talk about Vistas shortcomings, hehe, well WE do, but in general, all the hype, FORCED sales, DX10, and games that were again, driving the VISTA bus. Glad to hear it.

Even if this happens XP will be useless Vista is the future for everything. Such has video editing, Graphic design and ect. There making one last build for XP service package 3 which will have DirectX 9.0L or something and i will go back to vista very soon.
