Seems that a mini psu taking the load off the psu just for gfx seems like a good idea.

ya prolly. My PSU is specifically designed for SLi, having two power cords just for PCI-e.

This is what i'm getting in a couple of days
But That could probably help stability on people's pc's by splitting the psu so one is controlling mobo cpu etc and the other just the gfx cards, even if your psu is sli.
