Sempron or Athlon (AMD)

guys im looking for a new pc to buy but i have just 1 problem...make it 2....money and i cant decide what processor should i get. ive seen some amd sempron for nice prices. is a sempron 3400 good enough with 512mb and an ati 256mb vid card to play doom3? (it doesnt need to be best quality (resolution)) athlons r just a little bit more expensive but more expensive so im excluding it for now. heelp!!

i sold my rig i could sold it to you for 1,000 but to late anyways here what u need just to run doom3

amd 4000+ 1gig ram 6600gt gigbtye pro k sli about 400bucks for you off new egg or a lil else.

get a conroe. The benchmarks dont even give you time to think....intel wins
+ they are at an average price $200-$300

Get Althon 4200+ or 4400+ dual core will be about 200 for 4400 and 4200 will be like 180ish. I recommend getting 4400 cause it's one more meg of cache. ATI cards are very good they are underrated... They perform well past Nvidia when it comes to DVD's/ Videos/Web Editing/ Video Editing. Only thing that nivida has an edge on is gaming graphics. ATI is still very good. Yes i would have to agree with you storm i did have a x700 pro and was very impressed with it.

guys guys guys.....no money bwabwabwa an athlon 4400 is way out of my pocket....i need just about a good processor (2.2-3.2ghz) or an athlon good enuff to run games without a vid card (i have it)...well anyways thanks for the info so far.

3200+ 2.2 athlon XP x800GTO AGP 1gb ddr
High with x8 anti and 1280x900 or close to i forget exact pixils.
