What do you suggest?

I have a question or two and need some opinions.
First off, I'm planning on upgrading my chipset. I have a Asus A8N SLi Deluxe with a Athlon 64 3200+ --- what do you suggest I upgrade to? I'm looking for cheaper, but effiecent. I was thinking maybe the 4800 x2 chip, but I'm not sure.
Now I have an SLi mobo, but I can't afford butt. My card is a Geforce 6600, I'm thinking if I upgrade the card it could make a world of difference. Should I go the extra mile and get SLi? Or would waiting be the best option?
Also, I'm not a big fan of over-clocking. I know thats what Athlons are made for, but I never had the money to get cooling, so I just stayed away from OC'n. But if I did want to get some cooling, whats a good case or coolin setup for me to get?
I'm planning for all of this stuff to be able to handle next-gen games like UT 2007 and beyond. So it would be nice to get an opinion on whats the best route for me to take. My mobo can handle the better chipsets, but I'm not sure where my mobo will be in 6 months. I'm trying to play the field here and get something that will last atleast 1 1/2 - 2 years. Then I'll do a major overhaul, but till then I need something to tide me over.
Any suggestion is welcome except destroying, burning, and/or humping my computer.
