So... I need to get a copy of Win7 for my new build that I have... My only problem is, there are so many different versions now. There is pro, and premium, and ultimate, and all this BS. What is really needed? With XP, there was home and pro, and pro was a for sure buy.

Now, I am quite a computer geek, but I don't program or do anything too crazy anymore... So any help would be nice so I can start my new computer off right. ;)

Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional, or Ultimate will do. 32bit or 64bit. Go win7 and dont look back.

try to go 64bit if you can run it smooth and like camel said go Enterprise, Professional if yuor like windows xp professional. If you want windows 7 MCE and some of the ultimate features ( mostly just for entertainment nothing special ) then get ultimate.

Oh... I'll for sure be able to run it smoothly hehe. I want to run 64 bit so I can use my cpu to it's full capacity as well. Thanks for the help guys. Any suggestions on a good place to pick up a copy?

This is very important if you plan to upgrade. You have to follow this chart.

Thanks Camel. That first chart actually helped me a lot. It looks like I don't care about 99% of the s**t in Enterprise or Ultimate compared to Pro... Except that other than one or two things I didn't know what the last 10 or so where on the list haha.

Where can I get a good deal on 7 other than Newegg? Any ideas?

and always make sure your buying the full and not the upgrade package. you would be pissed to have bought the wrong thing.

Yea... I saw that when I was looking at the wonderful prices that were under $100 yesterday and noticed it was an upgrade. Kinda shattered my dreams hehe. Looks like Newegg is the cheapest still...
