Also I'd like to ask if anyone can help with a Ventrillo / BF2 issue. This has hurt me considerably up to this point in any attempt to grasp BF2. Vent, online, works great. Start BF2, and the main loading screen, searching for games, etc, no problem. As soon as I START to connect to a server, even before my client data is verified, and I can even choose a team/weap, my Vent, seems to just stop working. I've tried it repeatedly with different settings, and at times, if I'm yelling, people can barely hear me. I've heard this has happened before. What gives here??
Need to talk, AND game.

yo pun,
glad to hear your giving it the old college try again....
dood, also just to let you know... i finally got q4max loaded... so we are even now...
anyways, there is no easy kit to practice with... all kits have advantages and dis-advantages...
all weapons are not the same and do different amounts of damage...
kit playing also depends on the map and the squad you are in...
When i play and join an ingame squad, i try to be engineer or anti-tank..
So when im driving or a passanger in a tank, i can repair the tank during battle or if Im anti-tank, i can jump out and shoot an extra rocket with my rocket launcher.....
Remember, this game is all team work... so its good to become familiar with all kits....
-----------------------
as for the sound, check your ingame sound settings....
also check if mic boost is on... disable it or enable it....
dood i will be on tonight after work, so if you need help with your settings, i can assist you...
Pz OwT.......

Hey pun,
I am still pretty much a BF 2 noob, but I can share my experience. In the beginning I found myself picking Anti- Tank, because tanks and armor in general tend to dominate the game, so I felt anti-tank gave me ability to kill vehicles in addition to killing people. But after many suffering with Anti-Tank, I realised that having anti-tank kit makes you a prime target for those tanks and APCs. And when you are a noob with anti-tank kit you don't live long because the tanks are likely to be controlled by the experienced veterans or at least somewhat experienced folks who like to whore armor and being #1 on their hit list is probably not something that a noob wants. I found I kill more tanks with engineer kit(AT mine) than I do with Anti tank, aniway. But engineer's default weapon(semi-auto shotgun) is kinda limited to short range. Sniper (and to some extent special ops) is a noob kit in a bad sense of the word "noob". So I would go with ruiner's advice and play primarily as a medic for the first 10-20 hours. This way you can heal yourself so you won't die as much. Just make sure to play it safe and don't make the noob medic mistake by trying to revive someone just to get your opponent two more kills (by killing you and the person you revived). Always make sure the area is safe before you revive someone because reviving makes you very vulnerable.
But of course take the situation into account. If you are trying to hold onto your last control point and enemy is whoring armor, spawn with anti-tank. If you need to prevent other team from getting to some important point by blowing the bridge, spawn with special opps as they have explosives. If something needs to be repaired quickly, spawn as an engineer. So I would stick with medic in most cases, but be flexible.
