Question about AF in Quake 4 and Doom 3

Just a questions about Anisotropic Filtering in Doom 3 and Quake 4...

I don't really notice any change in my FPS, but get a small drop when things get busy and there is lots on screen. If anything, about a 0-5 FPS difference. Maybe it's my eyes or monitor but can someone validate whether 16xAF is better than 8xAF with the Doom 3 engine Visual Quality wise? Is the small performance hit worth the image quality? (Again I don't see it, but if someone could point it out it would rock!)

Does anyone have any benchmarks or Screenshots cause I can't find any!!! If not no sweat.
