D3 Roe XP

Just bought the expansion, love the ctf maps (purtay) but get a total of 1 ! server..... Am i missing something or do people just not play roe

chances are no one is playing it. ctf died pretty quick

well ctf was pretty lame with doom3 if you ask me. Because its so realistic, and you die so fast, it became a patent art to try and hold the flag for more than a few seconds.

And yeah, all roe is used for is modding really :/

Though, the few dm servers out there are hella worth playin.

I don't know about you Phobos, but I really enjoyed it. Yeah it was realistic, so you know what I did to counter act that? I dodged the bullets!

You can get some good matches in with a some good players (eXg) and teamspeak. Then it gets mad fun!

ROTFL mikE_. Lucky, hehe, I hear you. My personal opinion on the ROE CTF was that it WAS fun as hell. Took some getting used to and some people actually got very good at it, ie. Mattinator for one, and many others. I think that one thing that REALLY hurt it is plain and simple the Doom3 engine. Doom3 is quite hard to serve up and loads servers quite noticebly. Adding ROE, with it's bigger maps, lagging double shottie, world environments, was even harder to serve up. I'm not sure that it was the actually game that made it unappealing, but more most servers/rental servers inabillity to RUN it smoothly, that there arent' more.

i agree. they never did anything to improve the game either. then they had to go and add fog to that one map to cut your fps in half

im confused you say since you installed roe you only see 1 server ?

if you mean there sahow more but not many roe thats treu

I mean i only get 1 server for Roe... Its unfortunate, ctf is a fun gametype and dooms maps were just nice to look at worth every min. of playing... ah well ill keep my hopes up and hopefully in the future itll grow... thnx for the input all

I loved the d3 ctf, but two problems:

1. Not very many people played it and it died quick.
2. Due to the size of the maps and number of players to have a fun game, d3 will poop on your pc unless you've got top-of-the-line parts.

i remember when RoE came out. CTF was a little more popular back then, and the game was actually fun.
There were some decent 1v1 maps that came with that expansion too. I used to chrome domes on that 'Hell hole' map. The one with the "Bank Drive-Through vacume suckers", That could suck you from teh bottom of the map to the top.
