water/liquid cooling

Post by mikE_ »

my pc is overheating nonstop now, especially with long cs:s sessions. what's the best liquid cooling system for the best price? is it necessary? should i just buy an extra cooler for my vid card only (the ones they make for 6800ultra)?

any help/advice would be appreciated

zalman is the best water cooling out there. i have it and i have it on video card its nice.. but at the same time it could be your case or fans... try a bigger fan before u put out 300 dollars for water cooling :)

i have around 4-5 fans with my case and they don't do s**t. my card temp was 82 degrees last time i finished cs:s, it's 64 right now in windows, and it will get in the high 50s if i leave my case open (which i prefer not to do).

perhaps i could get the fan attachment for my vid card.. don't think it's that expensive

82 is a lil high lolz, you should be 45-70 MAX. If you dont get a better heatsync or a more productive air flow your going to need a new computer lolz. Get some Zalmen Fans, and heatsynce. That lower you temps ALOT But Liquid cooling is nice, and would do better but make sure you read manual thoroghly. Its easy to mess up.

Thats a good one. But, first I would Check a couple things before you spend the money on that. The temps that you are talking about are high indeed. Dont 6800 Ultra's run hot anyways? Are you noticing artifacts etc when playing? With 5 fans in a case I would most likely think to myself that you are creating a heat pocket (dead air) or some of those fans are working against each other. Do you have any pics of your case that you could post up with fan locations and weather the fan is blowing in or out? What is the ambient temp of the room while you are playing?

that will definitly lower you from 4*-10* Id also get an either larger fan or more powerful to take air in and out of case, if your running that hot, and along the lines of what crush said, you do have a fan blowing in on sie or front of case, and at least one blowing Out in back?

Yeah... An Arctic Cooler is great for the 6800Series GFX boards. They really do lower temps good and you'll save ALOT of dough. (It will run you about $40) It exhaust it out the back. I have OC'd my GT to past Ultra specs by far and my temps remain 53-55 max under load with LOTS of eye candy. Good airflow my friend.

Actually, I got a new heatsink a while back, and it dropped my cpu temp from 65ish to a solid 42. I don't konw what the full load temp on the old heatsink was, but under full load now I only run at 50.

This is the one I bought:

You don't necessarily need water bro.

THE BEST SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM IS........... get a new case man, the case in 1 of the most important, next to fans in a computer...

WHAT RPM are your fans????

do you have proper ventalization???
