Wow, look at all the closet drum freaks coming out.
Had no idea. Normally the drummers are well, hehe, not as prevalent. Where to start, hehe. Drummers just work the hardest, plain and simple. First to load in, last to load out, and if you are stupid enough to own a truck
you get home last, after dropping off the PA. Fun to play, yes, recording, absolutely yes. Moving, hauling, setting up/tearing down, NO !!!!! LOL I used to say pay me to move them not to play them.
I actually almost scored an old set of Buddy's drums from a collector in NJ, who I happened upon, but in the end, his price stopped me. Ahhh Buddy, what you did, with soo little. The big kit (try moving it, setting it up, and miking it) was mostly influenced by the need to cover mucho Rush, Dream Theater and the like, with some rather bizzare instrumental stuff. Pandoz as far as the snare, I'm def. in the TOIGHT snare camp, and had some original issues getting it setup right. Sometimes 5.5" doesn't give the low end. Thanks to the percussion gods at Remo, their powerstroke 3's and my extremely high tunning, combined with the focusing of the die cast rims, made it as perfect as I could get it. I've tried more than a handful of exotics, pic's, free floaters, 21 + ply, and I just can't seem to get away from the simple, 6 ply Maple, hehe. Call me a sucker.
Suprised me, hehe.
