Ubuntu Help
Ok, I split my hardrive into 2 partitions, one for xp and one for my newest operating system i downloaded today, ubuntu and i need help..
I tried downloading msn and team viewer and what ever and it just gives me an error
Archive: /home/chris/Downloads/wrar393.exe
[/home/chris/Downloads/wrar393.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/chris/Downloads/wrar393.exe or
/home/chris/Downloads/wrar393.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/chris/Downloads/wrar393.exe.ZIP, period.
Please help?

Don't be so quick to judge me You only see what I choose to show
they use tarz and other install packages. try reading the user guide and learning the background of the operating system before diving head first.
you can execute .exe in linux but you would need a software package called Wine. it is used to emulate a win32 sub directory in a linux environment in order to run windows applications.
just do some homework and you will be okay
also make sure you are downloading linux versions of software and not windows unless you really know what your doing. You can really mess up everything very easily in linux. if you want a better windows to linux move user experience i would go with the linux distribution called "Sabanyon". you can also run linux directly from cd without installing it. its called a live cd. you can even do it to a usb memory stick.

Re: OK
Not having huge surpluses of time, nor a traditional "office job", that's what kinda kicked it back for me. Doesn't mean it's bad, and I've been reading more and more positive, rabid writeups on that distro.eXg. CaMeL wrote: Not everything will work through wine. Its all trial and error buddy.

Re: well
Msn isn't compatible with windows xp, so I did some research and found something that was made for linux, ubuntu and mac because msn isn't. The program is called aMSN - it's awesomeeXg.
