Try running Two 36 gig Seagate 15,000 RPM Scsi's in Raid 0 for your operating system. And then run a couple 7200 RPM Segate Barracuda's (Sata II with NCQ) In a Raid 0 Also. Then have a 5th hard drive for complete disk images....

Your getting a full tower right?

okay... here is some info you may need when building a new pc.

1st off, Bob you did some good homework there. I give you a c+ for your findings.... lol

Now, I am pretty sure he wants to have a computer that he can keep for at least 5 years with room for upgrading....

Well, here are the most important parts you need for future upgrading:

1. Motherboard
2. Powersupply
3. Computer Case

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When building a computer, you need to know and realize what the future holds for next generation computers.

Right now, the future is pointing to dual core processors and 64bit graphics. Also, if you computer geeks have kept up in PC news, AMD sold more processors last year than Intel....

If you are into gaming, then the best brand processor to have is AMD...
If you dont know why, do a google search on AMD vs. Intel...

Now, with all the new technology coming out, you need power to run those chips and flips...... A good brand powersupply is necessary. In todays market, Antec, Ultra, PC Power & Cooling, Enermax and Silverstone are the top selling PSU's.....

I recommed spending over 100.00 on a powersupply. Dont ever trust a generic powersupply that is included inside a case.... They always end up dying within a year.

BEFORE BUYING ANY PART, DO RESEARCH.... FIND OUT REVIEWS AND ANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS... GO TO GOOGLE AND TYPE IN THE PRODUCT NAME + REVIEW....
--------------------------------------------------------------

Now for the parts:

1. ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX AMD Motherboard
(perfect for 64bit processors. 32bit & 64bit Windows Compatible. Single and Dual Core Ready. Single or Dual Graphics Card Compatible.)

2. PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI-PFC 510W Power Supply
(SLI approved. Maximum PC Kick Ass Award. Rated best power supply for computer gaming.)

3. PC Case????? Up to you man.... Just make sure it has a 120mm fan in front and a 120mm fan in the back... This is where you do research.... look at web reviews on cases... Just because it looks cool doesnt mean it will cool your system down...

4. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor.

5. Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB, 16mb cache SATA150

6. eVGA Geforce 7800GT @445Mhz Core Speed

7. PLEXTOR Black IDE DVD Burner Model PX-740A

8. CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) TWINX1024-3200C2PT
(you can always upgrade later to 2GB)

9. Windows Operating system: XP Home, Professional, Media Center or
the 64 bit version.

10. Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Music Version

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that type of system, you will be set for gaming and be ready for future upgrading.

You can still go more extreme by adding RAID, SLI, 4gb of RAM, 1TB of Hard Drive Space. But seriously, do you need all that???? It maybe cool, but most people like Crush dont need all that power and space....

If you pick the right case, you can spend under $2000.00 and have a kick ass system.... Or....... spend $4650.00 and have a system like mine....

DarkStar, I do need that much power. And you will see. My next system will last me 5 years without further upgrades after I buy it.

Plus how cool would it to have 2 15k scsi drives in raid 0?
