I don't like religion. I see it as a crutch for weak-minded people. They can't believe that we gradually evolved over time into what we are now, even when there's evidence to prove it. It has to be God that created everything.

I don't like to harp on religious people though... I have Muslim, Catholic, Christian, and Mormon friends in the marching band.

P.S. - Buddhism does sound pretty cool, but I think I'm too unfocused to get the whole Nirvana thing.

a crutch? people rely on God and their faith to get them through life everyday. especially for those who aren't as "lucky" as us (handicapped, abused, etc), God is the only thing they have. wars have been fought throughout time over God and religion, and now people think they can look at it as if it's some secondary and insignificant element of life? think again.

My opinion feels very welcome today.

BTW... I've lost half my hearing, half my vision, and I've got kidney failure that's threatening to put me on the operating table. I've been hit by a minivan, for which I recieved a broken arm, and then fallen down a flight of stairs. The arm is healed now, but since I'm losing bone marrow because of the kidney failure, there's a possibliity I could break it again. My point is... I'm not you're "lucky" guy. I don't need God... he's like one of those bosses that sees his workers struggling to pay the rent and feed their family but instead does nothing.

I'm not trying to say religion is small and insignificant... I can't. What I'm trying to say is that it's stupid.

On the topic of god/religion, I simply don't see any need to believe in a greater presence up above, nor do I see any logical scientific or philisophical reason to believe in a god. I am my own person, and the only thing that can hold me back from doing what I want to do, or allow me to excel at something, is myself.

I don't think "fortunate/unfortunate" people has anything to do with believing in religion, as there are plenty of "fortunate" people who do believe in god. I respect all people who believe in a god, or follow religous beliefs of any kind. Everyone has a right to believe what they'd like and I respect that.

Not everyone believes there is a god out there though, so although there may or may not be, you can't expect everyoen to believe god gave us life. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, nobody knows what is true and what isn't.

I myself believe that we were created by organisms, but appreciate the opportunity to live nevertheless.

Global Warming... As per Pun's and Mlke theory. History and nature's data has provided us with stark clues as to the patterns in Earth's history. Did you know there was a lush jungle in the Sahara? That North America was once covered in Ice? Did they have auto's back then? NO! But something happened during that time and what was it? No one really knows. But they do know that the Earth has undergone climactic changes stemming from Asteriods and Pole Shifts. From recorded time it has been shown that Earth does wobble, and that we have had many ice ages and thawing periods throughout the history of the earth. That in itelf is proven. What we cannot prove is anything prior to that of current record. As for the future all we can do is speculate, but most of speculation is given in the worst for possible form: FEAR.

Now onto religion. Is there a God or not? I guess it depends on whom you ask! By default each person's conciousness contitues their own universe. How so you ask? It is actually quite simple. Punisher lives his life, talks to me on Ventrillo and when I leave I end up leaving his conciousness. Although he does not here me, see me, or feel me, is it that I have ceased to exist? Do his friends exist even though I may have no knowledge of them? No! I have left his concious thought, (universe) and went on my merry way. We all have to remember. All things in the Universe work in waves. Light, water, sound, vibration all in waves. Even matter itself is just empty space, atoms that vibrate in their very small space. We percieve those waves by eyes, ears, touch, and wonderfuly powerful CPU (brain) analyzes those waves and releases endorphins and chemicals to make you feel those emotions that you feel. To help you remember and feel well, "alive". You cannot feel what I feel and vice verse but we can share emotions through bonding and proximity. So create your own Univserse. Allow yourself to be happy and enjoy the miracle of life.

With that theory of Individual Conciousness, would it be safe to say that God is within each and every one of us? That we each percieve God in our own divine way? If Buddha, Jesus, and the other Ascended masters were able to reach enlightenment, who is to say we are all not born with the same ability to reach such a state of living bliss? And by enlightment I mean "seeing the light, finding Jesus, enlightment, becoming one with the creator, etc..." If we each perceive the world differently I'm sure each of us has a personal perception of what God is. We just happen to follow the belief of a person with the most money and influence. Think about it.

And one last thing. If we are all but a thought in the eyes of infinite wisdom of God, then how can anyone ever be wrong if God is never wrong? I don't think that we really ever are, I feel that we are just doing what God intended. Living.

I don't find it ironic in the least. When you take away a person's money, family, and all belongings all he has is his soul. So it doesnt' seem odd that a person would find such a core issue as such a serious one.

You should elaborate on your point, I'm interested to know more!
